Chateau Chambert "Grand Vin" 2010. The Grand Vin is a 100%
Malbec from the oldest Chateau Chambert vineyards and a representation of
the three major Chambert soil types. Only grapes with
excellent concentration of flavor and tannins are selected
to produce this flagship wine. They are fermented using
the native, wild yeast that occur naturally on the skins
of the grape. Its inimitable signature is defined by the
subtle blend of Malbec's power with the refreshing
elegance provided by Chambert's limestone soils. This fruit
concentration, complex structure and fine acidity prolongs
the wine's longevity and ensures that it still retains it's
freshness and vibrant fruit, even after decades in bottle.
Aged 12 months in new oak (20% max) and 2nd fill French
barrels. All Biodynamic and organic. Grape: 100% Malbec,
from the oldest vineyards which are over 40 years old.
The wines of 2010 are of exceptional quality with
complex characters of red fruit, truffle, violets and
silky round tannins. Although this vintage produced
generous and rich wines, the finesse maintained from
the cooler nights and the characteristic low pH of
the calcaire soils of Chambert tames their powerful
structure. The ripe tannins and dense fruit accompanied
by this elegant acidity will ensure that the wines of
2010 have a tremendous potential to age. This rich complex Malbec rivals the best Bordeaux
and the 2010 vintage is perhaps the best of the decade.
Enjoy with red meat, game and ripe cheeses.
