Dear Wine Lover,
Welcome to our WEBSITE! -- Updated August 16, 2010
Our most recent newsletter: August 2010 has just been published crying the blues over the horrible weather in Southwest France, but making up for it all with some excellent new wines tasted over July and August. A great new recipe for Moroccan Tomato Salad is included. Let us know if you did not receive a copy.
Recently released from my Private Cellar are 3 Burgundies that have been held to mature a bit more (and for myself). These wines are now available in limited quantities.
Check under the Burgundy listings on the RED Tab above to have complete information on two Aloxe Cortons, both 1999 Vintage that are just perfect now and one Santaney 1999. These
are the top of the French Burgundy Pinot Noirs.
Many New Wines are in! Both Whites and Reds -- Check the White Burgundy listings for some interesting additions; Macon and Pouilly Fuissé from one of our new Burgundy
Winemakers; Maison Albert BICHOT, a famous old house with a perfect pedigree.
If you are a Red Bordeaux Lover, this is your moment! The CHATEAU DE BORDERIE GRAVES 2000
is back in stock - Supplies are very limited, and when this is sold out there will be no more!
We have managed to obtain a small quantity of CHATEAU SIAURAC-LALANDE DE POMEROL 2005 which is one of the best Bordeaux years in decades. This wine is also available in half bottles for only $16.90 ! CHATEAU BEGADANET MEDOC AOC 2003 is new to our collection, and a great wine for under $20. An unusual addition to our Bordeaux collection is a 100% Merlot Red Bordeaux: CHATEAU HAUT-JONSET BORDEAUX AOC 2002 - a bargain at $11.60. Please note these new Bordeaux arrivals will not be available for sale until April 22 so they have a chance to rest after their long voyage from France. You may, however, put a "reserve" on them to be sure you will get what you want.
CARTOON LABELS available on the 2007 Chateau BARRAIL DE GRAVES Saint Emilion, - a chance to collect some great wine with unusual lables, - a little on the risqué side. Most likely, they will never be available again as the Chateau owner who was friends with the famous French cartoonists, has retired and sold the chateau. The empties will probably become colector items.
Our first import of a CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE, DOMAINE DE LA JAUFTETTE 2001 is
listed under REDS- Southern Rhone. This is the first Chateauneuf I found at a reasonable price that truely represents this great wine. Also listed under Southern Rhones is DOMAINE LES GRAND TERRES-COTES-DU-VENTOUX 2005, a great wine in the Cotes du Rhone, Chateauneuf style at a surprisingly pleasant price.
The Astoundingly Delicious ARAMIS Red that sold out at the Pistarckle wine tasting and several other times is back in stock at the same price we have been selling it at: $9.34, a GREAT Value! There are many new wines as well. I think the Red wine lovers among you will especially appreciate the addition of Madiran Laplace, the 2nd label of Chateau d'Aydie Madiran, makers of ARAMIS. Madiran Laplace is a Madiran blend that will sell for $14.60, a sweet price for a terrific wine. I had a bottle of the Chateau d'Aydie 2006 the other night, and it was SUMPTIOUS. After having rested in our warehouse for a few months, it has matured magnificently. This will keep for many more years, but it's ready to drink and savor now.
We have added one of my favorite wines to our "stable": Wines of CAHORS also in Soutwestern France. Cahors is the region that originated the famous Malbec grape that is now the standard of Argentinean and Chilean wines. But these Cahors wines are from vines that are sometimes hundreds of years old and grown by the same winemaking families who made wine for Pope John XXII Who was born in Cahors, and ruled the Catholic Church from 1316 to 1334. These great Cahors wines – often called "black" wines for their depth of color, are the wines I have been drinking in Southwest France long before I started a wine business and it’s time to share these wonderful little known wines with you. We have two great Cahors from Pascal Verhaeghe,
one of the premier winemakers of the region. While not cheap, ($19.92 and $45.40) these wines are a must for Red wine lovers to try.
A great Selection of Bordeauxs! Two of which are rare find 2000 vintage. The Graves was a special find that is still selling for under $20. When these are gone, that's it. Look under the Red wine tab above for the "Bordeaux" selection to see these. All are delicious and drinkable now, or good to put down for a few years of aging. Newly added is Chateau COQUILLAS. Pessac Leognan 2007 which is the 2nd label of Chateau de France, one of our more popular premium wines.
The new selection of Loire Valley white wines includes a delicious new POUILLY-FUMÉ- MADEMOISELLE DE "T" 2008, and 2 inexpensive delicious Varietels; Chardonnay and a Sauvignon Blanc, both sell for under $10.00
One of my favorites, CHATEAU LABEGORCE MARGAUX 2005 has been selected to be included in Wine Enthusiast Magazine Top 20 Wines of 2008. You'll find
it listed under the "RED" tab above, under "BORDEAUX".
We have a great new winemaker; DOMAINE DE COUSSERGUES, a small family owned winemaker in the Pays d'Oc of Southern France. They are producing consistantly high quality through all recent vintages, proving the skills of expert winemakers. You will find all DOMAINE DE COUSSERGUES selling for less than $10.00. These wines are listed under the Red or White tabs listings of Pays d'Oc. We have created a sample box (ZPK-008 listed under Wine Sample Boxes) of this winemakers red and white selection. We have also added a value asortment of regional wines priced under $60 for the 6 bottle selection that will fill the budget minded wine lovers needs- ZPK-009. This is a great way to try these new wines.
PINOT NOIR is hot these days. You will find two vintages of GEORGES BLANC PINOT NOIR (2005 and 2006) selling for under $20, and DOMAINE DE COUSSERGUES 2007 PINOT NOIR going for less than ten bucks!
One of our best selling white wines, ARTON Les Hauts d'Arton, a crisp dry blend
sells for just $9.62. ARTON produces some of the best ARGMANACS to be found, Argmanac, like Cognacs, is distilled from grapes, but in my opinion is a smoother, purer much better after dinner drink. Regular bottles and Magnums in gift boxes are available.
The list of Rosés continues to grow - there are now 9 different Rosés you can choose from, as well as PANNIER'S great Rosé Champagne. For those who would like to try an assortment of Rosés, we have a well priced Sample Box made up for your
experimentation. GREAT HOT WEATHER WINES !
CHAMPAGNE---The discovery of Champagnes Pierre Boever is high on my list of great accomplishments this past summer. A small producer of "Grand Cru" Champagne, it is a rare find indeed. We have enlarged our selection of Champagne Pannier to include Magnums and Splits. Pannier rates consistantly high on blind tastings and is a great Champagne at a good price. Champagne Pannier was recently served at the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE CONCERT in December 2009.
Don't forget to use the "SEARCH" bar. It's a great tool if you
are looking for something specific such as "chardonnay". Give it a try when you are searching for a hard to find wine.
Added to our selection are the "ORGANICS" . All of my choices of these wines have been certified as "Organic", and they are Great! Just click on the ORGANIC tab above to see our wide selection.
For a LIMITED TIME we are offering Sample Boxes. These boxes give you the opportunity to try several different wines without having to buy 6 of each. Simply click on the "Wine Sample Boxes" tab above.
We have some fabulous Bordeaux such as the famous Chateau Siaurac, Lalande de Pomerol, 2005 which is a pure delight, and is available in full and half bottles. The Chateau Labegorce Margaux in the 2005 Vintage, Chateau Vray Croix de Gay in both 2004 and 2000 vintages.
The Wines of one of the world's most famouos chefs: Georges Blanc, have been added to our selection. Look for his delicious well priced wines in Pays d'Oc red & white selections.
Please take a few minutes to review our choices. To see the selection of RED wine, click on the "RED" tab above and follow the dropdown menu to your choice of Red Wine, such as Bordeaux etc.
You will find some exceptional values; many priced at a bit more than $8 a bottle. These are quality wines at great prices
All of our wines are from small family owned and operated vineyards. I have personally chosen each and every one of these wines, (it was hard work, but somebody had to do it...) and I honestly think better French wines at better values are not to be had in the islands.
